The Certificate in Film & Television Production (CFTV) is a one year program specifically
designed to provide graduates with the foundational production and technical skills
essential for today’s fast paced film and media industries. Our primary goal is to cultivate
confident, adaptable individuals who grasp the core aspects of production and can
effectively utilize emerging digital technologies.
CFTV places a strong emphasis on practical, hands on experience right from the start.
We deliberately revisit certain concepts across units to ensure mastery through repeated
application in various project shoots. This practical approach directly addresses common
gaps in entry level media training, ensuring our graduates are exceptionally well
prepared for immediate industry engagement.
This program directly responds to the continuous demand for skilled personnel across
Film, Television, and broader mass communication sectors. Graduates will be well
equipped for self-employment as content creators and for entry level roles within media
houses and diverse digital communication environments.
This Certificate in Film & Television Production aims to:
1 Provide students with basic theoretical knowledge and fundamental practical skills in
film and television production.
2 Develop graduates who are proficient in the core creative and technical aspects
necessary for entry level success in the media industries.
3 Foster resourceful and adaptable individuals capable of creating content within the
evolving film and television landscape
By the end of this Certificate course, graduates will be able to:
1 Create basic film and television content suitable for various platforms.
2 Apply foundational film and television production concepts to simple production tasks.
3 Operate essential technical equipment like cameras, sound recorders, lighting, and
basic editing software for film and television production.
4 Identify the basic social, cultural, and economic influences of film and television.
To be eligible for the CFTV program, you must meet one of the following criteria:
a) A minimum of D in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam, with
at least a C- (minus) in either English or Kiswahili.
OR
b) Any other qualification that our institution officially recognizes as equivalent to the
above.
